Light-speed ahead: Beamer is live on Boba Network!

Hello, Beamer – welcome to Boba!
It was announced on October 10th, 2022, that Beamer bridge had launched its mainnet on the Layer-2 optimistic rollup-enabled Boba Network and Optimism platforms. Beamer allows users to send crypto assets between Boba and Optimism in a seamless, fast, and low-fee manner.
This milestone was the culmination of 9 months of protocol design, testing, and development by the Beamer team. The Beamer bridge mainnet launch constitutes an important milestone towards improving the interoperability of Layer-2 optimistic rollup solutions. Initially, Beamer users will be able to send and receive the USDC stablecoin between Optimism and Boba, with support for additional rollup and token types to come soon.
Note: Beamer is presently undergoing an initial public testing phase, meaning that the platform’s smart contracts are currently undergoing an extensive audit. Prior to the completion of the audit, Beamer has applied several safeguards to ensure the platform’s security and stability.
A Seamless, Secure User Experience
Beamer believes user experience (UX) and security are the most critical aspects of any bridge infrastructure. The project places the utmost emphasis to ensure their system follows these strict guidelines, while combining an intuitive simple user experience with robust Ethereum security. The Beamer bridge infrastructure set features:
- Blazing fast transactions: Breamer bridges your assets to the rollup of your choice in as little as 2.5 seconds — and usually in under 20 seconds.
- Ethereum Layer-1 security: Beamer leverages the Ethereum Layer-1 for messaging and settlement. Ethereum’s best in its best-in-class security means if you trust Ethereum, you can trust Beamer.
- Precise transfer amounts: Beamer prides itself in giving its customers the best bang for their buck. Because the platform incurs no slippage or conversion fees, if you send 1,000 USDC, you always receive 1,000 USDC. This means no unconventional decimals upon receipt (for example: 999.34560 USDC).
- Minimal fees: You pay only 0.3% of the transfer amount, which is charged upfront on the source rollup (minimum 1 USDC).
- Single click functionality: Beamer allows you to sign only one transaction on the source rollup. Bing bang. And done!
- Canonical tokens: You only receive canonical tokens — never derivative or proxy tokens or tokens of any other type.
- Ensured finality: When you receive your tokens on the target rollup, they’re 100% yours. No waiting periods or restrictions ever.

Let’s use it: mini how-to tutorial
Before you get started, you will need to:
- Have a Metamask wallet or a WalletConnect compatible wallet
- Add Optimism and Boba to your wallet
- Hold USDC (and a small amount of ETH for gas) on Optimism and/or Boba
Once you’re all ready, go to the Beamer dApp for mainnet:
- Connect your wallet
- Switch your wallet to the source rollup
- Fill in the transfer info: source rollup, target rollup, transfer token, transfer amount, and Target address
- Confirm the transfer in your wallet
- Wait for the transfer to complete (takes less than 20 seconds)
- Switch your wallet to the target rollup
- Confirm the transfer on the target rollup network explorer
Beamer Bridge Moving Forward
Beamer is currently undergoing an audit by blockchain R&D firm ChainSafe. Once the audit is finalized, Beamer will make any required changes and release their audit report. In the following months, the Beamer team will continue to expand the platform’s functionality. This will include:
- Increased transfer limits: Beamer currently has a limit of 1,000 USDC per transfer. In time, this limit will be incrementally increased and removed altogether.
- Ongoing decentralization: In the near term, Beamer will maintain a whitelisted agent network — until they can ensure the highest level of security for users. Their medium-to-long-term goal is to develop a fully permissionless and decentralized agent network.
- Additional rollup & asset support: The Bemer platform currently allows for the bridging of USDC between Optimism and Boba. The company will continually add additional support for new types of rollups (optimistic and zk) and ERC-20 token types in the coming months (DAI, wETH, etc.)
